The Smart Cities Keynote Session on February 16 will explore the future outlook for Australian cities and communities, as we continue to move forward in a COVID-safe, COVID-normal world.

During this session, we’ll be looking at some of the broader Federal and State government initiatives and programs in place to propel the development of smarter communities.

We’ll also be featuring presentations from leaders within local governments around Australia, sharing some of the cutting-edge programs and developments they are employing to make their cities smarter, safer and better places to play, work and live.

Meet The Speakers

Victor Dominello - Minister for Customer Service, NSW Government

Victor Dominello is a Senior Minister in the New South Wales Government. He has held various portfolios over the last decade including Aboriginal Affairs, Innovation and Finance.

In 2019, he was appointed the inaugural Minister for Customer Service, with a key focus on digital transformation.

Victor firmly believes that the use of real-time data and technology are the most powerful ways to improve quality of life and reduce suffering.

Victor is a member of the crisis cabinet that has led the NSW response to COVID-19. He has had a particular focus on delivering digital solutions such as the Service NSW check in feature and real time data analysis to inform the state’s response.

During his time in the portfolio, Victor has been the driving force behind the roll out of the Digital Driver Licence, the establishment of the $1.6 billion Digital Restart Fund, and the rapid expansion of Service NSW app, including the introduction of new functionality such as QR code check in’s and notification of COVID-19 test results.

Vi Le - Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Standards Australia

Vi has over 20 years’ experience in the Information Communications and Technology (ICT) sector, starting with one of Australia’s major telecommunication companies Telstra, to working with the NSW Department of Finance, Services and Innovation’s ICT Policy Branch. During her time with the NSW Government, she has worked as a senior political advisor in the NSW Parliament and also successfully managed the $11.4 million partnership agreement with Data 61; a commercial division of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), which helped drive digital transformation through the New South Wales public sector.

Vi currently works for Standards Australia as the Stakeholder Engagement Manager for ICT and e-Commerce Services, and Secretariat to the Australian ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee which develops, maintains and promotes standards in the fields of information and communications technology.

Robert Matchett - Co-CEO, ENE.HUB

Robert Matchett is an Industrial Designer, founder and Co-CEO of ENE.HUB. Robert has more than 25 years' experience in the Design and Delivery of Smart City Infrastructure. He is responsible for delivering outcomes for Cities that balances the commercial, technological and infrastructure requirements of our increasingly complex urban environments.

Robert has overseen the delivery of a range of public realm projects with a strong focus on Smart Cities. His attention to detail, intent on achieving timelessness and embracing of innovative solutions has contributed to award winning results for a wide range of his clients.
